jobs. that is the most important thing. the defense of our country really is the most important thing. this president's attitude towards the mideast has caused the whole middle east to be up in flames. everybody can watch on their television. what do they think this is caused by? it is caused by a very weak attitude towards -- these terrorists are irrational. any person that would put a bomb on their children and send them into a restaurant, you're never going to rationalize with them, because they want to go to paradise, to heaven. how anybody can dig their going to talk to him -- he is naive and was never equipped to be president. i was very happy that he got in because he was black and i thought that was a wonderful thing for america, could have a black president, but i really don't understand how anybody can vote him in again. host: let's look at an opinion piece in the wall street journal. other opinions stories today -- we're asking whether you plan to what the presidential debate tomorrow night. in's hear from rachel florida and on our democrat line it. caller: thanks for takin

investments when there is a small tax. in another way is, let's go back to year 2000 defense department levels. we have a very bloated, wasteful military budget that has doubled over the year 2000. are we twice as secure? i do not think so. we can look at the blow back happening across the middle east. you can see having this hyper military is a man these drone wars and pakistan and somalia, which the president began to expand on day 3 and office. there were no republicans to blame it on. he began to expand the war effort massively. it is calling for $600 billion to renovate nuclear weapons and a new modes of delivering them. this is not the direction we need to go. we need a foreign policy based on human rights, not on the procurement of oil resources. we provide for a green a new deal that would directly create jobs. because it creates jobs in the green economy, it allows us to back off these wars for oil and save hundreds of billions of dollars on the bloated military. instead it puts that money into jobs, health care, and education -- the things we need at home to create national security.

. at times he sounded annoyed and defensive about having his tenure challenged in a way presidents rarely are. that is a little bit of her article this morning. here is a little bit more from the debate last night. >> my plan has five basic parts. get as energy independent. that creates 4 million jobs. open up more trade, particularly in latin america. crackdown on china when they cheat. make sure our people have the skills to succeed, and the best schools in the world. yet as to a balanced budget. champion small business. it is small business that creates jobs in america. over the last four years they have decided america might not be the place to open new business. i know what it takes to get small business going again and to hire people. i am concerned the path we are on has been unsuccessful. the president has a view similar to what he had four years ago. a bigger government, spending more, taxing more, regulating more, trickle-down government would work. host: facebook.com/span. what were the highs and lows of the debate is what we had on our facebook page. we're trying to rea

. no one has come to obama's defense about 9/11. we have a whole lot of questions that have to be answered. thank you. host: bob, nev., republican line. caller: the main question i have for him is experience and leadership scoot -- leadership skills. and for president obama, the lack of experience and leadership. the other important thing is the lack of enforcement of u.s. law. along the border we had two people shot yesterday. one man died. with everything from president obama on june 15, with the dream act, a few days ago governor brown decided to give drivers' licenses to illegals. i think we are creating a lot of jeopardy and risk for our people along the border. a piecet's look at about immigration and governor mitt romney, softening his stance on immigration and other issues according to usa today, trying to keep conservative appeal as he courts undecided voters. he told one denver newspaper that he would not revoke temporary visas in what appears to be his latest attempt to soften his tone on key issues. he told the post in an interview that those who qualified for deferred

department of defense have an awesome -- an office call fsap and a handle all overseas military registration. it has been running in effectively four years. it was ineffective while i was on board and is still ineffective. in 2009, i testified in front of a senate armed services committee -- a congressional arms services committee, and i explained in a nutshell what i just told you about how difficult it was to be able to register and i offered ideas of what we need to do to modify that. we've got to get more opportunity for these people to get an office available for them to check into their new duty station that will help them to register to vote and inform them on whether state laws and deadlines are. you become oblivious why you're on active duty. next thing you know, it is election time and you needed to know about the six months earlier when you were in the field. host: there is a story from the "military *." times" guest: that is just astonishing. this law passed in 2009 and it required by federal law that every installation had a voting assistance office established. it was supposed

the defense of marriage act. a federal circuit court has felt that that law in one provision is not constitutional. the provision forbids the government from recognizing same-sex marriages. this law was passed before any state performed same-sex marriage. there are 3 or four other states to recognize same-sex marriages starting next year. the question before the court and the one that this record in boston and several district courts is whether it is justifiable for the government to deny benefits to same-sex spouses. those courts found there is a significant justification to target this group. we're talking about survivor benefits. a same-sex spouse dies and is the spouse and tile to death benefits, that kind of thing. there is no justification for the government to substitute its view of marriage for that of a state. the government has always accepted a state's own definition of marriage. host: him from georgia -- kim. caller: i don't think the supreme court can usurp state's rights. they should not always be taken to task by the supreme court. it is a federal document that takes
